Outlet pick: Wallbox Pulsar Plus 40A J1772, PUP2

The exact US shop code is PUP2-U-1-5-N-002: J1772, 40A, NEMA 14-50. Its maximum is 9.6 kW, and the charger body is 7.8 × 7.9 × 3.9 inches without its cable. Choose it when the approved outlet fits your installation and Wallbox's sharing capability matters. Official configuration.

Power Sharing still needs communication cabling and professional setup, even for plug-in chargers. A meter is unnecessary for that static sharing feature, but is required for the single-charger household-sensing feature described below. Sharing requirements, household sensing.

See the Wallbox J1772 configurations.

New-installation pick: Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48A J1772, PUP2

Choose PUP2-U-1-6-C-002 for the hardwired J1772 configuration, rated up to 48A and 11.5 kW. It suits a new installation where you want Wallbox energy features and the electrician confirms the available capacity. A licensed electrician must handle hardwiring, with a permit where required. Exact configuration, installation manual, permit guidance.

For a NACS vehicle, Wallbox's corresponding 48A hardwired code is PUP2-U-T-6-C-002. Confirm the actual part number before ordering a second charger; the words “Pulsar Plus” alone do not establish sharing compatibility. The shop data showed the selected 40A J1772 configuration and the 48A NACS alternative unavailable when checked; verify stock before booking installation. NACS configurations, compatibility warning.

App pick: ChargePoint Home Flex

Home Flex is our choice when one charging point and a combined home/public app meet the need. Its app supports utility-based schedules, weekday/weekend timing and session information. Choose the connector that matches your car, then decide whether the installation calls for a supply plug or hardwiring. ChargePoint app overview, scheduling features.

Our Home Flex variant guide has the detailed ordering grid. ChargePoint requires a dedicated circuit per charger; staggered schedules do not meet its documented requirements for sharing one circuit. Installation FAQ.

Sharing, household load management and solar need different equipment

Static Load Management, called Power Sharing in Wallbox's installation manual, distributes a configured charging allowance between chargers. When insufficient power is available, vehicles can queue. That allowance does not grow when you add another charger. Single-charger Dynamic Load Management, formerly Power Boost, instead measures household demand and adjusts charging to the remaining capacity. Sharing manual, household load management.

The US EMS installation guide specifies a wired meter connection using STP Class 5E cable. The EMS documentation hub links the separate network designs; the solar guide supplies solar prerequisites.

Accessory: Wallbox US Power Meter kit

Wallbox's current US meter SKU is 000002139. Its kit includes two CT clamps, specified for panels up to 250A; that is a metering limit, not the charger's output. The enclosure is optional and the meter requires a wired connection to the charger. Official kit, meter datasheet, installation requirements.

Solar Charging offers Full-Green, which waits for sufficient surplus, and Eco, which blends surplus and grid energy. Crucially, Wallbox says Solar Charging cannot operate simultaneously with Static Load Management or multi-charger Dynamic Load Management; it can work with single-charger Dynamic Load Management. Schedules and manual charging take priority and may draw grid power. Solar Charging may also discharge a home battery. Solar operating rules.

Cable reach, winter limits and warranty conditions

Plan the cable route to each car's inlet in its normal parking position. The stated lengths above do not establish cold-weather flexibility; we have not compared cable handling.

Wallbox's operating specification is −22°F to 104°F. ChargePoint's datasheet says −22°F to 122°F, but its installation manual revised May 2026 says −40°F to 122°F for North America. Obtain model-specific confirmation before relying on the colder limit. Storage temperatures do not settle this operating conflict. Wallbox specification, ChargePoint datasheet, ChargePoint manual.

Wallbox's main specification table says NEMA Type 4, although its manual's sample label illustration says Type 3R. Home Flex's datasheet specifies Type 3R. Have the installer check the actual unit label and installation suitability rather than relying on the illustration. Wallbox manual, Home Flex datasheet.

Wallbox's limited warranty covers three years, with purchases through Wallbox or authorized sellers and proof of purchase required for service. ChargePoint lists a three-year parts warranty. Its May 2026 manual excludes warranty coverage for installation, commissioning or service outside its certified-technician/approved-method requirements, while its FAQ says any licensed electrician can install. Resolve that conflict with ChargePoint before hiring the installer. Wallbox warranty, ChargePoint manual, FAQ.

  1. Match the equipment

Confirm the vehicle connector, supply connection and exact hardware model.

  2. Specify the energy feature

Ask for static sharing, household sensing or solar; quote its complete equipment.

  3. Confirm the installation

Have the licensed electrician confirm capacity, local requirements, cable reach and warranty conditions.

How we choose

We compare official US specifications, exact shop part codes, installation manuals and feature-activation guides. We favor the simplest documented setup for the household and identify conflicting documents instead of silently choosing a favorable figure. These are research-based recommendations; no charging-speed, winter-cable or app-reliability testing underpins them.

Verdict

Choose Pulsar Plus PUP2 for documented static sharing, or a single Pulsar Plus plus the approved meter for household sensing and solar. Choose Home Flex for one charging point and its home/public app. If you need two chargers, household sensing and solar together, get a model-specific supported design before buying: the documented feature restrictions make that a different purchase from either charger alone.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wallbox Pulsar Plus better than ChargePoint Home Flex?

Choose Pulsar Plus for documented charger-to-charger power sharing, or for single-charger household load management and surplus-solar charging with the extra Wallbox meter. Choose Home Flex when you want home and public charging in the same app. Compare matching installations: both can deliver 40A through their NEMA 14-50 versions, while Home Flex's 50A maximum requires hardwiring.

Can two Wallbox Pulsar Plus chargers share one circuit?

Wallbox documents Power Sharing on a common circuit where local electrical rules allow it. The installation needs compatible chargers, communication cabling, conduit and professional configuration. Its manual says PUP1 and PUP2 cannot share the same Power Sharing network. The shared charging allowance remains a total pool; buying another charger does not create more electrical capacity.

Does Wallbox Pulsar Plus need a power meter?

Ordinary charging and Static Load Management do not require the household power meter. Single-charger Dynamic Load Management and Solar Charging do. Wallbox's US Power Meter includes two clamps; the meter-to-charger communication cable and any needed enclosure must also be accounted for. Have the electrician confirm the complete installation rather than ordering the charger alone for those features.

Will these chargers work without Wi-Fi?

Wallbox documents schedules and Static Load Management without a cloud connection, plus nearby Bluetooth app access. ChargePoint says a saved schedule continues when Wi-Fi disconnects and stored sessions appear after reconnection. That differs from first setup: ChargePoint requires Wi-Fi for activation and connected features, although its installation FAQ permits an electrician to configure amperage through Bluetooth.

Can Wallbox power sharing and solar charging work together?

Wallbox's current Solar Charging guide says it cannot run simultaneously with Static Load Management or multi-charger Dynamic Load Management. It can coexist with single-charger Dynamic Load Management. For solar charging, Full-Green targets surplus generation and Eco mixes surplus with grid electricity. Schedules and manual charging take priority, so a scheduled session can still use grid power.
