Widths use the makers' orientations; shorter bars mean narrower panels.

Renogy RSP100DC: best starting point for a compact layout
The 34.1-inch length makes this our starting recommendation when the roof plan favors a compact rectangle. Its sheet gives 19.97V Vmp, 5.01A Imp and 22.79V Voc, so the electrical identity matters as much as the Renogy solar panel name.^renogy
Order against RSP100DC, the 100W member of the N-type family, rather than borrowing specifications from another wattage or an older compact-panel model. The sheet lists 14 AWG, 600mm output leads; those attached leads do not define a complete roof-to-controller package.^renogy
Documentation caveat: Renogy's two official RSP100DC sheets disagree on the solar connector's ingress rating: one says IP65, the other IP67. Both list the junction box as IP65. Confirm the connector specification for the delivered revision instead of treating the higher number as settled.^renogy-old
Check the exact Renogy panel and pack options.
RICH SOLAR MEGA 100 SLIM: best for a narrow strip
Choose RS-M100SL25 when width is the constraint: its datasheet gives 400mm width, paired with 1270mm length. That is a different shape from the Newpowa compact panel; a narrow panel is not automatically the easiest fit if the opening is short.^rich
The current shared sheet also identifies RS-M100SLB, the SLIM ONYX alternative. Match the model code to the drawing. It specifies pre-drilled mounting holes, 35.4-inch / 900mm leads and 19.6V Vmp. Treat brackets, extensions and roof-entry components as separate procurement items unless the selected bundle explicitly includes them.^rich
Check MEGA 100 SLIM model and package.
Newpowa NPA100M-12J: best for short, wide bays
This is the choice when the roof drawing favors 28.54 × 30.12 inches over a long rectangle. The exact direct-sale package is NPA100M-12J/02, titled “New 200W 12V Compact Mono Solar Panel (2x100W).” It contains two separate 100W panels; its electrical table describes a panel, not a single higher-voltage 200W module.^newpowa
The matching sheet states 14.01 lb per panel. Buy this package when you can use both panels, and account for both mounting sets in the plan. The product page explicitly lists NPB-UZ as compatible and sold separately, and provides 3ft attached leads.^newpowa
Do not substitute the similarly named NPA100S-12J-BC bifacial panel's dimensions or electrical figures: it is a separate product. The letters and package suffix are part of the purchase decision.^newpowa-bifacial
Check the Newpowa two-panel package.
Jackery SolarSaga 100 Prime: best documented bracket package for a Jackery station
Choose JS-100E Prime for its documented package and station adapters. The manual lists the Z Bracket Kit and Anderson-to-DC8020 adapter; its connection guide explicitly covers the Explorer 1000 V2 and other named stations. Older Explorer 1000 models appear in a different group requiring an additional, separately sold DC8020-to-DC7909 adapter.^jackery
The manual separates 100W STC from 108W BNPI, with the latter including rear irradiation. Our comparison uses the STC column: 22.7V Voc and 5.30A Imp. Do not budget the bifacial figure as guaranteed roof output.^jackery
There is a roof-use qualification to resolve: the manual describes vehicle-roof mounting, yet also tells users to put panels away in strong winds, hail and other severe weather. Have the proposed fixed-roof use reviewed against that instruction before ordering.^jackery
Check the exact Prime package.
Mounts and cables: what else belongs in the cart?
For the selected Newpowa panel, the documented starting combination is the NPB-UZ bracket kit plus an appropriate cable package. NPB-UZ contains four Z brackets, bolts and washers and is specified to mount one panel. The two-panel purchase therefore needs two sets if your installer approves that mounting system.^mount
The separate NPC-20RB 20 FT 10 AWG cable set contains a male cable and a female cable, with solar connectors at one end and bare terminals at the other. It is a controller cable package, not a Jackery station adapter or a kit containing a controller. Confirm length, terminals and connectors with the installer.^cable
The panel page documents NPB-UZ compatibility; it does not identify NPC-20RB as an exclusive matched kit. Confirm the supplied connector make and mating compatibility before ordering. Ask for an itemized scope covering approved mounts, extension, roof entry, controller and protection, plus a roof drawing allowing for vents, shadows, bracket overhang and service access. Have the installer assess attachment surfaces, roof loading and the maker's clearance requirements.^jackery
Electrical fit: check cold Voc before watts
Vmp/Imp describe operation at maximum power; Voc/Isc are open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current. Cold conditions raise Voc, so compare a temperature-corrected array voltage with the receiving equipment's absolute limit.^temperature

These editorial calculations use Voc(T) ≈ Voc at 25°C × [1 + (coefficient magnitude ÷ 100) × (25 − T)], rounded to whole volts. They illustrate a −10°C cell temperature, not your location's design minimum, and exclude tolerances. Jackery labels its value “Voltage Temperature Coefficient”; ask for its cold-Voc design value. Jackery additionally specifies ±5% Voc and a 1.25 factor on nameplate Voc and Isc when rating connected equipment. These rounded examples are not equipment-selection limits.^jackery
For example, the Victron SmartSolar 75/15 specifies 75V maximum PV Voc and 15A maximum PV short-circuit current, alongside a startup requirement of PV voltage exceeding battery voltage by 5V. A controller's battery charging current and its permitted PV current are separate checks. A nominal 12V panel label alone cannot establish suitability for a 24V battery system.^victron
- Yes: Exact model and package match the electrical sheet
- Yes: Temperature-corrected voltage stays within the receiving equipment's limit
- Yes: PV current, charging profile and startup requirements have been checked
- Partly: An adapter matches the connector; electrical compatibility still needs confirmation
- No: A nominal system-voltage label used as the panel's actual output voltage

How much energy should you plan around?
An illustrative 100W / 0.1kW PVWatts model near Phoenix in June produces roughly 600Wh DC per day; near Seattle in December, the equivalent is roughly seventy Wh. We divide the model's monthly DC output by the days in the month and round deliberately: roughly nineteen kWh over June versus roughly two kWh over December.^phoenix^model
Both runs assume fixed roof mounting, zero tilt, premium modules and 14% system losses, with representative weather data. This compares location and season using a generic array; it does not rank the panels' real-world yields or estimate energy stored in an RV battery. PVWatts explains that its results represent long-term conditions, not a forecast for your particular trip.^model
Compare a conservative local production estimate with your daily energy demand before buying. If you need a panel you can move around shade while parked, see portable solar panels for power stations. For battery-system choices, use our 12V solar and LiFePO4 guide.
How we choose
We compare official electrical sheets, manuals, dimensions, package lists and receiving-equipment limits. Awards are editorial judgments about fit and contents. Contradictions stay visible; calculations state assumptions. No physical product testing informs these selections. See our research method.
Verdict

Frequently asked questions
Which 100 watt solar panel is best for an RV roof?
Start with Renogy RSP100DC when its 34.1 × 22.8-inch frame fits your available roof space. Choose RICH SOLAR RS-M100SL25 for a narrower strip, or Newpowa NPA100M-12J for short, wide bays, noting the two-panel package. For a compatible Jackery power station, SolarSaga 100 Prime adds documented brackets and an adapter. These are specification-based selections; roof suitability and electrical compatibility still decide the purchase.
How much electricity does a 100W solar panel produce per day?
Location and season change the answer substantially. Our illustrative PVWatts model for a flat, roof-mounted 100W array gives roughly 600Wh of DC energy per day near Phoenix in June, versus roughly seventy Wh near Seattle in December. These are rounded monthly-average model results, not measurements or battery-charge guarantees. The model uses premium modules and 14% system losses; your roof shading, weather and battery system can change the result.
Does a 12V solar panel output exactly 12 volts?
No. Newpowa calls the selected panel nominal 12V, while specifying 18.44V at maximum power and 21.64V open circuit. The nominal system label does not replace those electrical specifications. Match the panel to the charge controller or station's documented input requirements, including cold-weather voltage and current limits. A matching plug alone does not establish compatibility.
Do these panels include mounting brackets and a charge controller?
Package contents depend on the exact product. The Newpowa compact-panel page explicitly sells compatible brackets separately; its NPB-UZ bracket kit and NPC-20RB cable set are separate purchases. The Jackery Prime manual lists its Z Bracket Kit and Anderson-to-DC8020 adapter, but no charge controller. Do not infer a controller, roof-entry hardware or a complete battery connection package from a panel's wattage or attached leads.
Can I use a folding 100W panel permanently on my RV roof?
Choose a panel whose maker documents fixed mounting for that exact model. The Prime manual describes a framed panel with mounting holes and vehicle-roof requirements; a shared SolarSaga name or 100W rating does not transfer that approval to another model. If you want a panel you can move into sunlight while parked, use our portable-panel guide and check that model's weather and storage instructions.
